Gutenberg is the new default editor in WordPress which unlocks a new way of working with your content. This way of working provides you with great flexibility to arrange and manage your content in new ways never before possible in WordPress.

The important thing to understand is that WordPress 5.0 is a major update with potential breaking changes and you cannot simply update an existing site without any consequences. At BIGBrave we’ve successfully updated all of our websites and many of our client websites to accommodate the new block editor as well as keeping your WordPress core up to date for all those security releases which are very important.

This is the one time it would be a really bad idea to just click that update button and hope for the best. At BIGBrave we follow a holistic development and deployment strategy to update your site in a secured development environment to ensure compatibility and avoiding any breaking changes on a live site which is the last thing you would want. Once we’ve successfully completed this in an offline environment, we’ll push that up to the live to to avoid any unnecessary maintenance or down time on your live website.

All new projects started at BIGBrave are automatically built on the new WordPress 5+ with Gutenberg for all our clients. So rest assured that all new projects are on the cutting edge of what’s available.

If you have an existing website that you would like to update and ensure compatibility, please talk to us then we can get your site updated and ensure compatibility in no time.
